Southern Energy Development Corporation Limited (SEDCO)
In 1999, Southern Energy Development Corporation Limited (SEDCO) commenced its operations. As part of the Murugappa Group, the prime objective was to meet the energy requirements of its investor companies which are part of the Murugappa Group.
Since 1999, SEDCO has become a subsidiary of Carborundum Universal Limited (CUMI), a leading listed materials science engineering company. SEDCO operates a 5 MW, Natural Gas-based power plant at Nallur, Mannargudi (Taluk), South India. The company is procuring Natural Gas from ONGC and generating power for captive use by various industrial units of its investors by wheeling the generated power to TANGEDCO’s grid. The company pioneered the design, engineering, project execution, and operations in this field and provides low-carbon energy solutions to industrial, commercial, and residential customers.
SEDCO believes that the future will be powered by new and renewable energy. Therefore, we work with clients to offset the consequences of carbon footprint and build sustainable operations with clean energy solutions. We have particular expertise in providing a complete range of new and renewable energy solutions, including solar systems (on-grid, off-grid, and hybrid), solar water heaters, solar street lighting, solar water pumping systems, battery storage, solar-powered EV charging infrastructure, and Energy Management solutions.
SEDCO’s operational plants are expected to cumulatively generate over 100 million units of electricity over the 25 years duration of the projects, which can be equated to a reduction of over 44,000 metric tonnes of CO2 over the lifetime of these projects, thus saving more than 1.25+ million mature trees absorbing CO2.
